SDAO is seeking a Claims Operations Analyst to join our Property & Casualty Claims team. This is a unique opportunity to combine analytical thinking, claims expertise, technology, and strategic problem-solving into one dynamic role.

In this position, you'll help improve claims operations, analyze trends, identify risks, support system enhancements, and provide meaningful insights that drive decision-making. You'll also manage complex property and casualty claims and serve as a trusted advisor to Oregon's special districts.

No two days are alike. One day you might be analyzing claims data and building reports. The next, you could be collaborating with IT, consulting with members, evaluating coverage, or helping resolve a complex claim.

 

What You'll Be Doing

Wear Your Analyst Hat

  • Analyze claims data and identify trends, emerging risks, and opportunities for improvement
  • Develop dashboards, reports, and performance metrics
  • Evaluate business processes and recommend efficiencies
  • Partner with Claims, IT, Risk Management, Underwriting, and Finance teams
  • Support system enhancements, testing, and implementation projects
  • Help ensure compliance, data integrity, and reporting accuracy

 

Wear Your Claims Professional Hat

  • Manage complex property and casualty claims from beginning to resolution
  • Investigate coverage, liability, damages, and exposure
  • Establish and manage reserves
  • Participate in litigation strategy discussions
  • Negotiate settlements within delegated authority
  • Provide exceptional service to members, claimants, attorneys, and stakeholders

  • Identify root causes and solutions
  • Recommend operational improvements
  • Assist with training and mentoring
  • Help improve claims management practices across the organization

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree in a related field,
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience handling the full cycle of insurance claims, or ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in insurance claims, risk management, business analysis, or a related field

Or

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Experience with claims management systems and reporting tools
  • Experience working with operational reporting, analytics, and process improvement initiatives
