The Port of Hood River, Oregon, is recruiting its next Finance Director. Situated in the beautiful Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area, the Port offices are located in the desirable city of Hood River, just 30 miles north of Mt. Hood and just over an hour’s drive to Portland. The area offers an abundance of outdoor recreation, diverse culinary establishments, while maintaining their small-town character.

Under the direction and supervision of the Executive Director, the Finance Director (FD) is a key member of the Port’s management team and is responsible for managing all fiscal operations, investments, and fiscal strategies including risk management, information technology (IT), toll system hardware and software management, and supervision of finance staff.

The ideal candidate should demonstrate the following attributes: strong leadership and management abilities, demonstrated public finance expertise, long-term financial strategy development, excellent communication skills, understanding of economic development principles, skills in intergovernmental relations, a commitment to collaborative, transparent approaches, and technical accounting system expertise.

The Finance Director will be vital in providing information and financial leadership as the Port navigates substantial organization change with the anticipated replacement of the Hood River-White Salmon bridge and associated financial impacts for the Port.

Compensation is $134,000 - $154,000 (DOQ) with excellent benefits.

 

Education, Certification, & Experience

A four-year degree in accounting, business, and/or financial management is required. An advanced degree in Finance, Public Administration, or related field, Certification as a Public Accountant (CPA), as well as previous public sector finance management experience is strongly preferred. Experience and/or training in Oregon budgeting and land use laws, tolling system management is beneficial. Satisfactory and equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the described duties of the position may be considered.
