What You'll Do:

• Lead and mentor a team of field personnel, providing training in work and safety procedures.
• Oversee sewer line cleaning, video inspections, and routine maintenance of the sanitary and storm sewer systems.
• Operate and instruct others on the use of heavy construction equipment, including high-pressure sewer jets and Vactor trucks.
• Create and enforce standard operating procedures for the division.
• Maintain records using OLWS’s work order tracking and asset management programs.
• Coordinate and assist in emergency responses, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
• Respond to public inquiries and address concerns related to field operations.
• Manage fleet and equipment maintenance, including scheduling, purchasing, and replacements. Participate in budget development, capital planning, and staffing decisions.

Minimum Qualifications

• Four (4) years of progressively responsible program-related experience
• two (2) years of team leadership preferred.
• Associate's Degree in Water Environmental Technology or related field preferred.
• Wastewater Collections Level III certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
• Valid Oregon Class A Commercial Driver License or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
• OSHA Confined Space and Competent Person Certification, and Traffic Control Certification. E
• xcellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

Knowledge of:

• Supervisory theories and principles.
• Technical knowledge of public works related systems.
• State and federal laws governing utility services.
• Reporting responsibilities to regulating agencies.
• Construction and safety standards.
• Problem resolution techniques.
• Personal computers and related software applications, including asset management programs.
