Harbor Water PUD - Water Operator

General Job Duties:
Install and repair water service connections, mainlines, and valves per approved methods. Maintain the operations of reservoirs, well pumps, booster pump station, water lines, water meters, blow off stations, valves, district truck and equipment. Complete daily work orders for water reconnects / disconnects, repairs, meter reads, etc. Carry a cell phone during normal work hours and while on duty. Mark accurate location of water line locates received from utility notifications. Supervise contract help when needed. Possess strong problem solving and trouble shooting skills. The job can be physically demanding at times. Applicants must be able to lift at least 60 lbs., dig with a shovel, and work in inclement weather. Render such other services and duties not listed here or that may be assigned from time to time.
Must be able to pass a drug test, background check, and physical exam. Also, must submit a 3-year driving record.
Work Hours:
Monday – Thursday, 7:00AM – 4:00PM, with weekend duties every 3 weeks.

Education:
High School degree or equivalent. Required – two years minimum of water system operator education or related experience. Three years or more preferred experience. Additional may be substituted for experience.
Requirements:
Valid Oregon Driver’s License. Water Distribution – Level 1 or higher. Obtain a Water Distributions Level 2 certification within one year, (paid for by employer) Maintain yearly certifications for water operators as required by Oregon state law. (paid for by employer) Live within a 30-minute response time to the water district.
Knowledge:
Knowledge of field installation of underground utilities. Demonstrated knowledge and ability to use the following equipment, including safety precautions, proper operations, user required care and maintenance. Pumps, Chain Saw, Pole Saw, weed eater, hot saw.
Working Conditions / Environment:
Work location is primarily outdoors in mud, uneven terrain and varying extreme weather conditions. Digging in ditches and digging out meter boxes.
