Clackamas River Water - Project Engineer

Location:  Clackamas, OR

 

Status: Exempt, Full-Time, Represented This position is responsible for providing intermediate to advanced-level project support to senior engineers in the planning, design, construction and maintenance of the District’s capital improvement, capital outlay and private development projects.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Plan, design and execute the District’s civil engineering projects from conception to completion. Prepare project reports, documentation and technical specifications.
  • Oversee and coordinate work performed by the project team, engineering staff, vendors, external contractors and other stakeholders to ensure quality and District interests and standards are met.
  • Serve as Project Leader and provide technical expertise in supervising all elements of assigned project plans.
  • Monitor project deliverables throughout the project process ensuring project costs are delivered on time, tracked within budget and in compliance. Identify any overruns and recommend “change orders”, as necessary.
  • Review construction, new, prototype and other material submittals in conformance with District standard specifications. Assist in the development of engineering standards and procedures for potential impacts on water systems, to minimize costs and ensure efficiencies meet or exceed regulatory requirements.
  • Perform, maintain and update the District’s hydraulic model for use in engineering planning and design as required.
  • Support senior engineers in the department’s day-to-day operations.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Possess an Oregon Professional Engineer License
  • Four to eight (4-8) years of progressively responsible experience in civil engineering project management for public works or water utility; or,
  • Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required certification, knowledge, skills and abilities for this position.
  • Understand and apply principles and practices in: civil engineering - including design, planning theory; project management, capital construction and contracting,
  • Proficient in the use of GIS/CAD mapping software
  • Knowledge of industry standards, safety regulations and best practices that govern municipal water systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and conflict resolution skills.
