General Roles and Responsibilities:
This position is emergency response in nature with other firefighters and EMS responders to emergency and non-emergency incidents. Their role is emergency incident scene management, apparatus response and equipment assignments. Performs emergency medical functions up to the Scope of Practice level and within Fire Departments approved treatment protocols. Perform the duties of a firefighter at the scene of emergency and other duties as assigned by a higher ranking Officer. Assist with the training of all personnel. POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma / GED
- Minimum of one (1) years’ experience as a firefighter
- Driver’s License Valid in the State of Oregon
- NFPA Firefighter 1 NFPA Driver NFPA Haz-Mat Operations ICS 100 / 200 / 700 / 800
- Emergency Medical Technician
- MUST OBTAIN WITHIN ONE (1) YEAR OF APPOINTMENT: NFPA Firefighter II
- NFPA Pumper Operator NWCG FF Type 2
- MUST OBTAIN WITHIN TWO (2)YEARS OF APPOINTMENT NFPA Instructor 1 ICS 300
Knowledge of:
- Firefighting/Emergency Medical Services
- Computer literate in Word, Excel, Adobe, and other commonly used software.
- Record Keeping Fire Codes Fire Prevention Primary/Essential Responsibilities Fire/EMS Response
- Provide reports and records as requested by department, city, state, and federal agencies
- Respond to call types of call for service both emergent and non-emergent
- Community Risk Reduction (Prevention / Education)
Non-Essential Duties
- General yard maintenance
- Janitortorial duites

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Performs tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues that may be infectious. While performing the duties of this job, the firefighter regularly works in outside weather conditions and assists traumatized individuals.
The firefighter frequently works near moving mechanical parts with exposure to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, requiring the firefighter to work while wearing self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), or other safety devices, risk of electrical shock and vibration. The firefighter occasionally works in high precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, except during certain firefighting or EMS activities when noise levels may be loud and hearing protection required as permissible.
