Bonneville Dam - Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator

Position Information:
Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Services. Shall include but not be limited to:
- Serve as operator in charge of the TCWWTP to include remotely located pumping stations.
- Responsible for overall operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting of wastewater systems
- Determining system problem severity and independently taking required actions to shut down the plant, bypass process, make repairs, and/or substitute manual operations for automatic when plant effluent levels do not meet requirements of the Discharge Monitoring Report.
- Operate valves, lifts, pumps (high pressure progressive cavity sewage, variable drive, various sump, chemical feed), gates, comminutors, filters, digestors, macerator system, lagoon, digital and manual control system, storm water collection system, oil/water separators, culvert silt boxes, and other controls/equipment to move sewage through various stages of treatment that provides for disposition of digested sludge.
- Collects samples of sewage/sludge at prescribed stages in the treatment cycle and makes basic temperature, concentration (PH), residual chlorine, settleable solids, hydrogen ion, dissolved oxygen, relative stability, and alkalinity tests; adjusts chlorinating and other chemical treating equipment to control physical, chemical and bacteriological characteristics or sewage.
- Performs operator maintenance and lubrication on service pumps, filters, settling basins, sludge collectors, comminutors, screes, valve gates, air compressors, bubbler and float level sensors, manholes, pressure and gravity sewer lines, and other facilities; maintains all records and/or logs of operations and maintenance data necessary to adhere to all applicable Federal, State and local regulations.
- Observes all safety rules, regulations and procedures.
- Coordinates with on-site maintenance personnel as required.
- Daily readings and monitoring under the current permit.
- Activate, and maintain the composite samplers.
- Assures all test equipment used for discharge monitoring is calibrated annually or as required.
The proposed employee(s) shall hold current:
1. Oregon grade 2 treatment operator license; and
2. Oregon grade 2 collection operator license.
