The Service Desk Specialist is responsible for initial technical response to personnel of various departments, including conducting initial problem diagnosis, and resolution or escalation to higher tier support.  


The service desk specialist is an integral member of the Information Technology team. The ideal candidate for this position is passionate about helping others, creating efficiencies through processes, and is keen to grow their technical skills.

The ideal candidate expertly assists internal clients with hardware installations and workstation setup, demonstrating skillful manual manipulation of IT equipment. This position is also responsible for receiving IT equipment, installing monitor arms, and moving large equipment to provide functional working spaces for TVF&R personnel. 

With a focus on customer service, the ideal candidate effectively and efficiently completes routine and daily tasks and works with District personnel to solve a myriad of IT concerns. As part of a larger team, the service desk specialist is aware of the resources they have available to them. The service desk specialist can discern when a request needs to be escalated and is able to remain calm when dealing with multiple concerns at once. They are detail- and process-orientated and comfortable with continually transforming technology.

Example of Duties

The functions of the Service Desk Specialist include the following:  

  • Initial triage of support desk inquiries
  • Diagnosis and resolution/escalation 
  • Hardware and account onboarding/offboarding
  • Documentation 
  • Special projects and system support
  • Hardware checkout

Qualifications

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Three (3) years of experience in a computer support position preferred. Equivalent experience providing relevant technical expertise and customer service will be considered.
  • An associate degree, preference in the field of computer science
  • A+ certification

The assessment process will comprise of a minimum qualification review, Sparkhire one-way video interview and an Onsite panel interview and skills evaluation.

 

Compensation: 

The monthly salary range within a step system for this position is $4,817 - $6,516 per month. The starting pay assignment, based on a candidate's bona fide factor analysis in accordance with the District's pay equity system and the Oregon Equal Pay Act and will be in the range of $4,817 - $5,118 per month. The maximum of $6,516 can be attained after five years contingent on performance.
