The Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District (THPRD) is seeking a Maintenance Operations Manager to join our leadership team. This position oversees the planning, assignment, inspection, and supervision of all district maintenance operations, including parks, natural areas, trails, and athletic fields.

The Maintenance Operations Department includes:

  • 38 full-time employees (3 non-represented supervisors, 35 union-represented employees)
  • 33.19 part-time FTE

The ideal candidate brings substantial experience in maintenance and operations, supported by experience working in parks, athletic facilities, natural areas, and/or trail systems. They understand the importance of proactive and preventive maintenance in preserving public infrastructure and extending asset life cycles.

They are a forward-thinking and solutions-oriented leader who anticipates challenges and responds with practical, strategic approaches. Strong judgment, adaptability, and initiative are essential, along with the ability to identify issues early and implement sustainable, effective solutions.

 

Financial & Operational Leadership
This role manages a $12.48 million operating budget. The ideal candidate has demonstrated experience in:
• Budget development and administration
• Forecasting and monitoring expenditures
• Making strategic adjustments to ensure fiscal responsibility
• Aligning maintenance priorities with funding and capital improvement planning to maximize public investment

Compensation & Benefits

The annual salary for the Maintenance Operations Manager is $149,173 - $181,305, with an anticipated hiring range of $149,173 - $164,411. 

 

Education and Experience

Any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that would likely provide the applicant with the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

A four-year degree from an accredited college with major course work in: park and recreation management, leisure services, horticulture, landscape management, or related field, or equivalent work-life experience and a minimum of seven (7) years increasingly responsible experience in park and recreation leadership and maintenance operations management and a minimum of three (3) years of experience in management or as an expert individual contributor responsible for leading employees and projects.
Licenses and Certifications:

  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Certified Park & Recreation Professional (CPRP) preferred
