How One EMS Agency Secured a $2.4M SS4A Grant
In late 2023, Town of Colonie Emergency Medical Services partnered with neighboring agencies to secure a $2.4 million SS4A Demonstration Grant. Their project aims to prevent crashes in their service area while enhancing post-crash care through innovative technology. The grant funds several key innovations, including driver warning systems for approaching emergency vehicles and technology to protect vulnerable road users. Additionally, the project involves crash "hotspot" mapping and improved data sharing with emergency departments.
Town of Colonie Assistant Chief MacCue emphasizes, "We've never seen this level of funding for traffic safety technology. And the opportunity triples when you work with your neighbors." Watch a recent webinar where MacCue provides details how his agency approached the grant application process.
