FY 2024 Community Forest and Open Space Conservation Program (CFP)

WHAT DOES IT FUND? The purpose of this program is to establish community forests by protecting forest land from conversion to non-forest uses. Supported projects should provide community benefits, including public recreation, environmental and economic benefits, and forest-based educational programs. FY 2024 Marine Debris Interception Technologies under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law

WHAT DOES IT FUND? The purpose of this program is to support the installation, monitoring, and maintenance of proven marine debris interception technologies to benefit marine and coastal NOAA trust resources, coastal communities, and/or local economies. Click here for more information.

WHO'S ELIGIBLE? Local, state, and tribal governments whose activities affect research or regulation of marine debris, as well as institutions of higher education, non-profit organizations, and commercial (forprofit) organizations with expertise in a field related to marine debris. Projects must be performed in either a coastal state or great lakes area.

TOTAL FUNDING AMOUNT? $4 million

FY 2024 Marine Debris Removal

WHAT DOES IT FUND? The purpose of this program is to support impactful, large marine debris removal projects that will improve the resilience of the coastal and marine environment and implement strategies to prevent the reaccumulation of marine debris. Click here for more information.

WHO'S ELIGIBLE?  Local, state, and tribal governments, institutions of higher education, non-profit organizations, and commercial (forprofit) organizations with expertise in a field related to marine debris. Projects must be performed in either a coastal state or great lakes area.

FY 2024 Weather Program Office Research Programs 

WHAT DOES IT FUND? The purpose of these programs is to support new weather, water, and earth system observing and forecasting applications, including improved analysis techniques, better statistical or dynamic forecast models and techniques, and communication of that information to better inform the public. Two grant competitions are being funded via this solicitation: 1. Climate Testbed (CTB) and 2. Fire Weather. Click here for more information.

FY 2023 Rural and Municipal Utility Cybersecurity (RMUC) Advanced Cybersecurity Technology (ACT) 1 Prize 

WHAT DOES IT FUND? This program will improve the ability of utilities to protect against, detect, respond to, and recover from cybersecurity threats. ACT 1 cash prizes will be available to eligible utilities to incentivize meaningful, impactful investments in cybersecurity technologies and support training to increase the knowledge, skills, and abilities of utility staff. ACT 1 has 3 Phases, and the current competition is for Phase 1. Click here for more information.

WHO'S ELIGIBLE? State and local governments; special districts, Native American tribal organizations, higher education institutions, school districts, public housing authorities, nonprofits, and for-profit businesses. While applicants can be from outside the Chesapeake watershed, only projects that take place in the watershed will be considered.

FY 2024 National Park Service (NPS) Chesapeake Gateway Grant Program

WHAT DOES IT FUND? This program provides technical assistance through staff expertise to aid the managers and partners of Chesapeake places and other partners in conserving, restoring, interpreting, and providing access to cultural, natural, and recreational resources within the watershed. Click here for more information.

WHO'S ELIGIBLE? Rural electric cooperatives; utilities owned by a political subdivision of a state, such as a municipally owned electric utility; utilities owned by any agency, authority, corporation, or instrumentality of one or more political subdivisions of a state; and investor-owned electric utilities that sell less than 4,000,000 megawatt hours of electricity per year
