Description:

The Mid-Willamette Valley Council of Governments (MWVCOG) is seeking an Associate Planner. This position performs advanced land use planning work for member governments in Marion, Polk and Yamhill counties on both current and long-range projects. In addition, this position provides technical support on a variety of community development projects such as grant and loan applications for public infrastructure improvements, administration of federal and state grants, staffing special regional committees, and economic development initiatives.

The Associate Planner reports to the Community Development Director. Requirements: Minimum qualifications for this position include a Bachelor’s degree with major coursework in planning, geography, public administration or closely related field; and two (2) years of professional land use planning experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the above duties and responsibilities.

Specific knowledge of Oregon state land use planning laws and regulations, including planning goals, policies, requirements and procedures is required. Experience with or working knowledge of federal and state development finance programs such as CDBG. All candidates are subject to a background check.
