JOB DETAILS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Clackamas Water Environment Services (WES) is seeking an experienced wastewater treatment professional and demonstrated leader to join our team as a Wastewater Plant Operations Supervisor at our Tri-City Water Resource Recovery Facility in Oregon City. This dynamic position is an integral part of WES Operations, fostering a collaborative team dynamic through supervising plant operations staff.
The Wastewater Plant Operations Supervisor plans and manages wastewater plant operations, process control, and some administrative functions to ensure the facility meets state and federal permit discharge requirements. Some of the most critical components of this position include overseeing the hiring, development, and performance of plant operations staff, coordinating resources between work units, providing technical assistance, training, and advice, and participating with management and engineering staff in relation to treatment plants, including project management.

Required Minimum Qualifications/ Transferrable Skills:*
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience as a coordinator, team leader, or supervisor in a related field
- Possession of Certification by the State of Oregon as a Wastewater Treatment Grade Level 3 Operator, or its equivalent from another state at time of hire
- Experience interpreting regulatory compliance standards
- Experience with project management, including overseeing internal projects and/or large scale construction projects, ensuring their completion within the established time frames and budget guidelines
- Experience researching and compiling data or gathering information for reports
- Experience providing excellent customer service to the public as well as to other external and internal stakeholders within various levels of organization
Preferred Special Qualifications/ Transferrable Skills:*
- Experience assigning work, training staff, preparing and reviewing team or individual performance appraisals, correcting performance deficiencies and recommending corrective actions
- Supervisory experience within a union environment
- Possession of Certification by the State of Oregon as a Wastewater Treatment Grade Level 4 Operator, or its equivalent from another state at time of hire
- Associate's Degree in Wastewater Treatment Technologies or a similar field OR Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology or Engineering
Pre-Employment Requirements:
- Driving is required for County business on a regular basis or to accomplish work. Incumbents must possess a valid driver's license, and possess and maintain an acceptable driving record throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the County's driving policy.
Post-Employment Requirements:
- Possess and maintain Certification by the State of Oregon as a Wastewater Treatment Grade 4 Operator within six (6) months of hire
