North Gilliam County Health District is located in Arlington, Oregon. The North Gilliam County Health District Board of Directors governs an Ambulance service and a Medical Clinic that serve the northern half of Gilliam County.  Both services are operated out of Arlington, Oregon, which is located on Interstate 84 (I-84), halfway between The Dalles and Hermiston.  I-84 runs along the Columbia River, which serves as the North border of Gilliam County for 34 miles.  Arlington Medic and the Arlington Clinic provide medical service to approximately 800 people who live in Arlington and the 370 square mile service area surrounding the town.  Arlington Medic and the Arlington Clinic are also available to serve thousands of people who travel through the area each day on I-84.

Waste Management and Wind Farms employ the majority of the people who live in the area. A major solar energy project has also created an influx of people, who are temporarily working and living in the area. 

No traffic lights are found in the county and people living here appreciate a more laid-back pace of life.

Wind Surfers and Kite Boarders flock to the area to enjoy the wind on the Columbia. Fishing the Columbia and John Day Rivers and hunting numerous game animals in the area also bring many people to the area.  China Creek Golf course and a shooting range also add to the numerous recreational activities found in the area. 

Arlington schools offer smaller class sizes and more individual attention that result in students graduating with confidence in their knowledge and the social skills to be successful in any career they choose. 

Those living in Arlington are used to plenty of sunshine and hot summer weather.  The winters are generally cold but rarely see more than two total weeks of snow and ice. 

 

Position Summary:

The Clinic Administrator is responsible for a variety of duties related to the daily operations of the Clinic as well as bookkeeping administrative functions. This position is responsible for the daily oversight of the medical clinic which includes development of district strategy and policies, negotiating financial arrangements with third parties, representing the District at meetings and on committees.  The Clinic Administrator is also responsible for oversight of staff benefits and management of employee files, project management, coordination of building maintenance and repairs, and all bookkeeping functions for the medical clinic.  The clinic administrator reports directly to the Board of Directors and is expected to work in coordination with the Clinic Medical Provider and EMS staff.
