Marion County Fire District 1 is accepting applications for a limited duration College Internship. 

About The Internship Project

This project is designed to create a digital inventory all capital assets owned by the fire district, identify their location, and condition along with application of a numbered property decal for future reference. The benefits of this inventory include theft prevention, identification of when the property has reached its useful life and when it should be replaced.  The work study intern will gain valuable experience working in a public safety work environment combined with an opportunity to build their resume for future employment and or use this project in the future of their education.

Duration & Hours

Project is expected to run from June 15 until August 30, 2022.  The fire district offers a flexible work schedule however, work will generally be conducted M-F 8-5. This position is of a temporary nature and may be full or part-time. No benefits.


  1. Graduation from high school or satisfactory completion of the General Education Development
  2. Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Oregon Driver’s License.
  3. Clean diving record for the last three years.
  4. Successfully pass a criminal background and personal history investigation.
  5. Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university at the Freshman, Sophomore, or Junior level.

About the Fire District

Established in 1939, the fire district serves an estimated 50,000 citizens across 80 square miles of service area, including the communities of Four Corners, Middle Grove, Pratum, Macleay, Brooks, Clear Lake, Labish Center and Chemeketa. The district currently employs 54 personnel supported by 64 volunteers who selflessly donate their time to protect their community. The district provides all hazard fire-rescue emergency response from six strategically located fire stations, handling over 9,430 emergency incidents annually.
