Sunrise Water Authority: Water Distribution Operator I

Sunrise Water Authority seeks to fill one or more full-time positions as Water Distribution Operator(s).  This search is for qualified entry-level candidates with related work experience, and is part of the field operations crew, reporting directly to the Operations Supervisor (daily) and the Operations Manager (by function).

Essential Functions: 

  • Perform manual labor, including lifting 50 pounds
  • Work outside in all weather conditions and serve after-hours on-call or in emergency situations
  • Install, maintain and read water meters
  • Complete customer service requests, work orders and other assignments
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and emergency repair of pipes, valves and hydrants
  • Operate heavy equipment (e.g. backhoe, forklift, dump truck)
  • Traffic control and flagging
  • Apply critical thinking skills and serve as part of a highly-functioning team
  • Model superior internal and external customer service

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED
  • Valid Oregon Driver’s license and clean driving record (commercial driver’s license preferred)
  • Must be able to obtain an Oregon Water Distribution Level 1 certification within 1 year of hire
  • Preference given to candidates with prior relevant construction experience and/or post-secondary education or certification

Candidates with significant experience in public works, operations, or water distribution may be considered for a higher level position.

Compensation and Benefits:

Hourly wage:  $21-$23 DOQ/DOE
