Position Description:

Rogue Valley Sewer Services (RVSS) is seeking an Operations & Maintenance Manager (Manager) to provide exceptional leadership of their dedicated operations team, as well as administration of an approximately $4.3 million department budget. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, with strong fiscal, organization, and personnel management skills, as well as a passion for mentorship and culture cultivation.

Day to day, the Manager will direct the work of the Operations & Maintenance Department’s 17 staff, oversee and modernize operations of RVSS systems, continually balance planned and emergency maintenance, and implement the agency’s strategic plans and goals. This organized, decisive, and capable professional will have the opportunity to contribute to a variety of exciting initiatives, including the organization’s transition to an electric fleet, ongoing solar power upgrades, and GIS integration.

The Job / The Ideal Candidate: 

The Operations & Maintenance Manager will oversee the critical operations and maintenance of RVSS infrastructure, while reporting to the General Manager. While their primary responsibility is administrative oversight of the department and staff, they will also occasionally oversee crews in the field. This Manager is in charge of personnel matters, such as overseeing work schedules, managing staff performance, ensuring workplace safety and regulatory compliance, and allocating staff to special projects. They will also develop and manage the Department’s budget, procure materials, supplies and equipment as needed, and work closely with other leaders across the agency to set strategic goals for the growth and maintenance of the agency’s critical infrastructure. The ideal candidate for this position will have extensive experience managing teams in a public works setting, and a passion for creating strong organizational culture. The Manager will foster a positive and collaborative work environment, encourage open communication, and recognize individual strengths while ensuring each member of the team feels valued and included. They will be a dynamic communicator and generous collaborator, able to work effectively with line staff, agency leadership, and the RVSS Board of Directors.

 

Employment Standards:

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

• Experience: Significant and increasingly responsible experience in the operation and maintenance of public infrastructure, such as water collection, treatment, and/or distribution systems.

• Driver’s License: Possession of a valid and appropriate Oregon Driver’s License. Must have and maintain a satisfactory driving record and be insurable to operate District vehicles.

 

Additaional Desired Qualifications:

• DEQ Collection Systems IV certification, or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire

• DEQ Treatment III certification, or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire

• Commercial drivers license with tanker endorsement

• Flagging Certificate

• Crane Safety Certificate

• Forklift Safety Certificate

• First aid/CPR Certificate

• Bilingual (Spanish/English) Salary and Benefits: Annual salary of $102,576 - $128,184 DOE/DOQ and an attractive benefits package.
