The Umatilla Rural Fire Protection District (URFPD) located along the Columbia and Umatilla Rivers in Northeast Oregon is looking for a self-motivated energetic individual to fill a unique and challenging position. This position is multi-faceted and requires a person that can see beyond the here and now and contemplate the challenges of the future while dealing with the burdens of today.
This single position is for Recruitment & Retention Coordinator, Training Officer, and Fire Marshal. Our small District relies on volunteers to keep the apparatus rolling out the door to various incidents ranging from Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Motor Vehicle Crashes (MVCs), and wildland fires to structural fires, minor hazmat, and water rescue.
As this is a new position to our District, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to design, create, and implement new programs in each of the categories. This will require organizational skills, self-discipline, goal setting, and adapting to an ever changing environment in the fire service, culture, and community.
The City of Umatilla resides within the URFPD and is growing with new industrial and residential developments under way. This has already added to our strained services at a time when volunteerism is on a significant decline. Therefore, the successful candidate will need to hit the ground running.
The individual that fills this position will also respond to calls for service in addition to their other duties.
The current salary range is $50,000 - $63,613 with a tentative start date of July 1, 2018.
